It all started with the "Soilbirds" circa 1993, a rock outfit consisting John Beery on Guitar, John Molinari on Rhythm, Kevin Casey on Bass and Mike Viola on Drums. This lasted until 1998 when the band broke up unceremoniously. They produced 1 album titled "Throw it in the Neighbors Yard" which was well received and got some local airplay from WBAB and WUSB. So now in 2009, 16 years later John Beery, Kevin Casey (Drums)and brother Scott on Bass make up this new band called Pine Box Derby. John's brother Russell was the initial Bass player and also helped co-write some of the music on the earlier material. The band is primarily a power trio that plays their own brand of music called Junk Rock, a blend of all of their musical influences.
