Cody Riley Band / Bio

Cody Riley has just finished his latest EP “Dozen Dead Roses.” Persistence has once again paid off for Riley as one of his long time musical influences, Wade Bowen, agreed to co-produce the project with Ross Smith (keys & guitar for Wade Bowen). Riley has always admired the work of Bowen as a singer/songwriter, and hoped for Bowen’s input moving forward. Riley was not only enamored with Wade's humble attitude and kind personality, but his ability to make you feel every note and every word that flowed from his songs. The more mature Riley became as a songwriter, the more his admiration for Bowen's writing influenced him. It was a dream come true for Riley when Bowen and Smith took on the project. Starting in June of 2013, with the help of Bowen and long time supporter Todd Purifoy, Riley began focusing on taking his songwriting to a new level. Riley travelled to Nashville to collaborate with respected songwriters such as Mando Saenz, Jason Saenz, Brian Keane, and Hailey Whitters. The EP, featuring co-writes with some of the previously mentioned artists, was recorded in 2013 at Mi Casa Studios in New Braunfels, TX, and is set for a mid-February release.

In 2012, Cody had the opportunity to record a live album, “Cody Riley Band Live.” Riley's showmanship, ability to engage a crowd, high-energy performance, and his strength as a young songwriter. When the band was formed in 2007, Riley was a mere 15 years old. In these early days, Riley spent time focused on performing in his home area of East Texas, playing a mix of songs original music and covers of his musical influences such as Cross Canadian Ragweed, Randy Rogers, Robert Earl Keene, etc... Near the end of 2007, Riley had saved enough money to record his first EP "Short Bus." Soon after the release the release, the first single, "Clean Across Texas" hit radio waves. The band hit the road playing two to three nights a week all over North, East, and West Texas. It was quite a shock, and a more than a little impressive to most, that someone of Riley's age was juggling 120 late night shows in a year, going to high school, and managing his band all at the same time.

Over the years, the Cody Riley Band has built quite a following in the East Texas Music Scene thanks to very supportive fans who stood behind them every step of the way. When the album, "Everything In Color" was released in early 2008, most Texas Music radio stations had a good feel for what Riley and the band had to offer. It didn’t take long for word to spread throughout West Texas and Central Texas, suddenly creating demand in venues that seemed so far out of reach just a year before.
