The OddPops Party Band began truly as a ‘garage’ band. Knowing her husband longed to perform again, Renata Vitali conned several friends of her drummer husband into performing at their house party in 2004. She secretly setup drums, amplifiers and microphones in the garage and asked wives of the others to sneak their instruments over. A couple of hours into the yard party in Elmhurst, she opened the garage door to reveal the setup. With only a little coaxing, the four friends manned their instruments and began to play for the group assembled. OddPops was born!
The band has gone through a few changes in the last several years and now consists of Rick Berryman of Elmhurst on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Vince Vitali of Elmhurst on drums, Dan Harps of Western Springs on bass and steel drum, Tony ‘Albie’ Melnick of Westchester on lead guitar, keyboard and saxophone, and Brian Fudacz of Downers Grove on lead and rhythm guitar. All of these gentlemen are accomplished musicians with years of experience in Chicago and other areas in rock, pop, blues, jazz, tribute, metal and other styles of music. All have performed in other bands through their years and written, recorded, and performed cover and original music.
Today OddPops is a Trop-Rock/Pop/Classic Rock band covering tunes from the 60’s to the current day. The name OddPops is explained by our tag line “It’s Who We Are – It’s What We Play” as we are a collection of unique personalities that also enjoy playing somewhat ‘lesser known’ favorites (great songs that most people haven’t heard). At this point in our musical careers we are focused on having fun and it shows in our performances, and in the crowd reaction from our huge and loyal fan base.
OddPops plays block parties, festivals, private parties, organizational events, and club dates. We’ve performed several times at Lunar Brewing Company in Villa Park, IL and at The Lounge at Willowbrook Bowl.
