Dock Sud / Bio

Featuring Emilio Teubal on Piano, Martn Fuks on Electronics and Guitar and Pablo Pereyra’s eccentric, heartfelt vocals, Dock Sud has taken a new approach to Electronic Tango. Dock Sud’s sound is rough and raw as its name suggests.

The beats blend in dirtily, in an almost industrial way, as the form and phrasing sound like the old, traditional tango schools. It is a vortex where the future and the past of tango coexist.

The band balances, their own and obscure compositions, renditions of old tangos and spoken word, into a multimedia show that includes visuals by renowned Veejay Roi Fernandez.

Dock Sud is a district of the Avellaneda Partido of Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. It forms part of the Greater Buenos Aires agglomeration.

The Villa Inflamable (“Inflammable Town”) community is home to over 10,000 residents and borders directly on the Dock Sud petrochemical hub, an industrial area housing dozens of companies and a range of industries. According to a survey carried out by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in 2002, there are over one thousand storage tanks in the hub with a capacity to store 1,500,000 cubic meters of fuel and other chemical substances. Residents are exposed to exasperating pollution levels, extreme poverty, and precarious living situation. Dock Sud, a predominantly working-class district, has in recent decades been afflicted with some of the nation's highest crime rates.
