Colourful Genre / Bio

Colourful Genre is the musical name of John Elliott, formally lead singer with 70s band The Lesser Known Tunisians. Described by Patrick Humphries in the NME as, “more fun than Green Monkey Disease”, with an “endearing line in verbal and musical wit”. John Elliott, “comes with a personality with ‘Personality’ stamped all over it” [NME]. He was seen as a “highly capable frontman-come-ringmaster” [Sounds]. Now thirty years later he is still entertaining audiences with his unusually quirky songs that don’t seem to fit neatly into any one style- hence the name Colourful Genre. Now backed live by some of the best emerging Jazz Fusion musicians in the South West.
