Led by Na Hoku Hanohano award winners Zanuck Lindsey (Hula Joe & the Hut Jumpers, 2000) & Kimo Artis (Kanilau, 2005). The members of Kapala (Kai Artis, Lopaka Ho'opi'i, Richard Heirakuji, Adj Larioza) have backed up or been members of some of Hawaii’s finest groups (Ernie Cruz Jr., the Honolulu Symphony Pops, Leilani Rivera Bond, Kalapana, Makaha Sons, Na Kama, Na Leo, Nohelani Cypriano, O'Brian Eselu, Palani Vaughn & the King's Own, Raiatea Helm, etc.) it is from this experience that Kapala draws it’s inspiration and desire to make their own mark. Kapala combines traditional and contemporary Hawaiian music with blues, country, jazz, reggae, rock, swing, to create their own "Hawaiian Pop" sound that is innovative and exciting. In 8 years together they have released 3 critically acclaimed Cd's. "Imprint", "Come on Home" and the 2013 Na Hoku Hanohano nominated "Legacy". They are a 4 time winner of the Akademia Music awards for excellence in songwriting and been on over 80 different recordings during their careers.
