Hearts & Thieves began when CT rock group Fearless went on hiatus in late 2008. Guitarist Aaron Read and singer/ guitarist Sebastian Scott, faced with the uncertainty of the band's future and eager to continue writing and performing new original music, decided to start a new project and began writing new material. They quickly recruited ex-Hillcrest bassist Rick Finocchiaro- a talented player they had met playing local shows during their time in Fearless. High school friend Dan Cusson rounded out the group and the band played numerous shows for the next year until Dan had to take a leave of absence. Sal DiBacco answered a "drummer wanted" ad, and stepped right in to fill the void left by Dan. Sal played with Hearts & Thieves for a number of years until he ultimately decided to step away from the band to pursue other projects. In the wake of Sal's departure, the future was uncertain until a face from the past showed up to save the day: Sam Yosafi. Another old high school friend and longtime fan, Sam was a natural fit. Hearts & Thieves came back bigger and badder, and are currently taking over the world one show at a time.
