With his home and heritage scattered across Europe, a single-raising political migrant mother and a childhood spent quarrelling in schoolyards and at home, it was clear that music offered him a place of solace and self-expression.
Meet Phil, a.k.a. Chromatone, who picked up the classical guitar aged 7, sang lead roles in musical theatre productions since his early teens and began his love affair with music after the illegal download of a Jimi Hendrix album.
He was determined to follow his passion. After forming Rock bands in his native Munich and winning the city's most renowned band competitions, such as "Sprungbrett Popkultur", the scene there was quickly consumed. So Phil moved on to a shabby cellar in Hamburg to study music. When the police came knocking one morning, his journey had to continue, this time to London.
After first establishing his existence as a professional session singer and guitarist, spending many nights in studios but also touring through Asia and Europe, and achieving a First Class Honours Law degree from UCL, Phil decided to channel his undeniable talents as a singer, songwriter, guitarist AND dancer into a blossoming solo career.
And he was quickly booked into London's top venues, such as the Jazz Café, Scala, O2 Academy Islington and many more. He was aired on various radio shows, such as Germany's biggest private radio station Charivari 95.5. and after selling over 2,000 copies of his debut EP "The Ripple Effect", German production company CDC Music signed him to a new production deal.
Along the way, Chromatone already worked with established producers, such as Robin Axford and Joe Fields, whose credits include Paul McCartney, Pixie Lott and Ministry of Sound to name a few. Day after day Chromatone perfects his explosive and irreplaceable live shows and continues to breathe fresh air into the Pop and Soul market. And he's only just getting started....
