Born originally in Watts California, YUNG POPPA moved to the west side of South Central Los Angels . At a young age YUNG POPPA was able to decipher between rich and poor - and unfortunately was on the losing side of those statistics. YUNG POPPA grew up listening to all types of music, from Madonna, the west side connection. run dmc, ect..., so he always had a respect for the diversity in the art of music. At age 11 YUNG POPPA touched a piano for the first time. Through long hours of practice, he learned to play almost an song on the radio, so that became one of his pet-pivs. Yung poppa always wanted to be an entertainer, but never considered rapping until his aunt Rochelle tried to sign him up for show time at the Apollo.
Unfortunately yung poppa never made it to the Apollo Theater but the thought of entertaining a crowd remained engraved in the back of his mind. Later that summer he wrote his first song, entitled "Down pack", and since then yung poppa has always been an avid writer. When YUNG POPPA was 16 he teamed up with his older cousin who had a music group.
Later this same cousin introduced yung poppa to sleep, giving yung poppa the hands on experience in production. YUNG POPPA has always had a love and respect for the art of music, which he incorporates in what he calls "real music"... at the adult age of 19 yung poppa realized that he was producing his energy in the wrong way, and really started taking his music serious, with the assistance of sleep. To this day you can find yung poppa in west los angels inside of street lyfe studio putting his heart and soul into his music. It's a constant struggle getting to the next level, but there is an undeniable drive in yung poppa that enables him to be the force that he is. YUNG POPPA's short term goals is achieving mainstream status, with hopes of giving directly back to poverty stricken youths by opening music centers in South Los Angeles, providing lesson in music production, which he plans to be a part of hands on
