As Long As Yellow formed in January 2008 in Brentwood, TN in an unfinished basement studio surrounded by exposed insulation and 2x4s. The setup was crude but the fellowship and passion for music remains strong.
Andy is the band's founder He discovered his love for writing and recording music at the age of 14 when he picked up a guitar for the first time and then a pair of drumsticks soon thereafter. The studio is Andy's playground and he will spend countless hours there writing, recording, demoing, changing his mind and doing the whole song completely over again and again until he gets exactly what he's looking for. His musical influences include: The Smashing Pumpkins, Incubus, U2, Third Eye Blind, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Weezer, The Offspring, Green Day and Nirvana.
Chris anchors the vocals of ALAY with rich, clean melodies and heartfelt emotion. In his own words: "Music is a passion of mine. I have my other hobbies, other things I dabble in, but music is my passion. Without music, I wouldn't be who I am. With this band, I feel like a close family, one with which I share a lot in common and a comradery that I just haven't had anywhere else. When we get together to work on stuff, we just ... flow." Chris' influences include: Coheed and Cambria, Foo Fighters, All-American Rejects, Jason Mraz, and Bowling For Soup.
Matt is the youngest member, but he brings talent, expertise, and experience to the group. Matt doesn't just doesn't just play guitars, he knows what makes the heart and soul of a guitar. He custom builds his own from the body up to the electronics to optimize the sound quality he wants, and pairs them like a sommelier with the ideal amp stack and effects pedals. Matt's influences include: John Petrucci, Bullet for my Valentine, Vertical Horizon, Weezer, Yellowcard, Stone Sour, Carlos Santana, My Chemical Romance, Jimmy Eat World, and All That Remains.
