Stephanie Bettman is an accomplished songwriter, with a gift for unforgettably moving lyrics. As a vocalist, she has drawn comparisons to such legendary singers as Emmylou Harris and Joan Baez. Her award-winning fiddling combines elements of bluegrass and jazz, with influences from such masters as Stephane Grappelli, Byron Berline and Johnny Gimble.
Luke Halpin is a renowned multi-instrumentalist, drawing inspiration from the likes of Sam Bush, Mark O’Connor and Tony Rice. He is equally adept on mandolin, fiddle and guitar, as well as being a dynamic vocalist and harmony singer. Halpin has opened for Merle Haggard, Lone Star and The Steve Miller Band among others prior to joining Ms. Bettman.
As a duo, Bettman & Halpin are fast earning a reputation in folk and bluegrass circles for hypnotizing performances filled with irresistible lyrics, transcendent harmonies and roof-raising instrumentals. They have toured together since 2008 and have won many awards including Best Instrumental for Buttonwillow in the 2012 Great American Song Contest. As master storytellers in the fireside tradition, Bettman & Halpin portray intricate scenes ranging from vibrant to haunting, to stories that inspire and uplift.
Bettman & Halpin’s records have received national and international radio play along with critical acclaim, reaching the Top 10 on the National Folk DJ chart. They have a new studio record that will be released in early 2015.
