Although originally bitten by the bluegrass bug, I have been playing old-time fiddle, guitar and banjo since my high school days in Raleigh, N.C. Influenced early on by the Stanley Brothers, Bill Monroe the New Deal String Band and visits with Roscoe Holcomb, Virgil Anderson, Arnold Watson, and Gaither Carlton, as well as attending bluegrass festivals in the 60’s and 70’s. Although I spent most of my last 39 years playing old time fiddle, I have spent most of the last ten years renewing my love for classic, early bluegrass music studying mandolin, banjo, singing and dreaming of playing the banjo breaks on “Whitehouse Blues” like Rudy Lyle.
