Drive, persistence, dedication, three words that describe one of the most resilient bands in the Pacific Northwest…The Kamikazies. "Soaring, edgy rock'n'roll at it's best...hits you like a cannon ball." says Filter Magazine.
Founded in June of 2009 by vocalist/guitarist Tre (Evil Twin, Beauty School Dropouts), The Kamikazies have undergone many changes in an effort to find the perfect mix of musicians to become a premier original band in the Northwest and beyond. “It took us a long time, and a few different members to find the right sound, energy, and dedication” says Tre. He adds “I have always said that I will search as long as i need to find the right people, and that’s exactly what I have done.” Between 2009 and 2010 The Kamikazies played over 30 shows including an appearance in Austin, TX at the South By Southwest Festival and recorded a full length album that received many positive reviews from such magazines as Kerrang and Filter.
In 2010 the band saw the departure of their guitarist, bass player and drummer due to personal reasons. "I wasn't sure if I wanted to continue" says Tre. "It IS very difficult to regroup after losing three-quarters of your band" but after much thought and pleadings from the fans, Tre decided to search for new members and as it turned out this was just the thing that The Kamikazies needed to bring them to the next level. The quest for the best possible sound and setup lead Tre to drummer Jeff Rocket and bassist Diamond Dave. Still not quite complete, the band began playing shows while Tre continued searching for a second guitar player to bring the band full-circle and add that one last layer of depth. "We tried out many different guitarist and just didn't find what we were looking for" says Jeff. It wasn't until early 2011 The Kamikazies found the last peice to the puzzle. Guitarist Dano (Arythmia, Seven Under Suicide) crossed paths with Tre and was able to add exactly what the band was after. "Dano came in, instantly gelled with us and we haven't looked back since" says Jeff. Unfortunately the summer 2011 saw the departure of Diamond Dave for greener pastures. "These things happen" says Dano. "You never want to lose a member that has helped build your brand, but sometimes people's lives take different directions". The Kamikazies, however, didn't miss a beat and immediately brought in bassist "El Jefe". "It's an honor to play with these guys, I love the music and I'm happy that I'm able to be a part of such a successful band".
With eyes toward the future, the band continues to gain momentum playing shows all over Seattle and the Northwest region including opening slots for national bands such as the popular 90's band "Bang Tango" and the legendary band "Motntrose". Plans for 2011 also include a new album and much more...stay tuned!
