Mark “M.E.” Edwards is the guitarist for U.S. Power Metal veterans OVERLORDE, who first formed in the mid 1980’s and went on to become one of the highest regarded bands in the heavy metal underground.
Along the way, M.E. also became a highly regarded instrumental artist. Writing, recording, and performing hard and heavy rock instrumentals in the vein of Joe Satriani. He perfected a unique “One Man show”, where he performs on electric guitar with distinct sounding programmed backing tracks he programmed himself.
His instrumentals, as with all his works, placing the emphasis on dynamics, melody and good songwriting. This isn’t a “shred-fest”, but rather an evening of instrumental music that truly entertains and excites the audience. He tells the story behind each song and its title, allowing the crowd to connect with each song. And his virtuoso technique is used to maximize the melody. Placing an emphasis on the phrasing and quality of the notes, not the speed of them.
At the end of M.E.’s set , he often calls up a singer onstage to perform some original and cover tunes with vocals.
Mark currently has endorsement agreements with GRAPHTECH GUITAR LABS, SAMSON TECHNOLOGIES, DR STRINGS, and RAIN COMPUTERS. He is also involved with STEINBERG (a division of Yamaha), having designed a set of guitar presets for the VST AMP RACK module which were released in their CUBASE 7 software.
