Jim Scully / Press

“Calvin also performed a piece by CSUB professor Jim Scully entitled "Hop, Skip and Jump." Scully, who was the main organizer for Saturday's concert, is a composer and performer as well as teaching a wide range of music courses at CSUB including music theory, jazz studies and music technology.”

“Although Scully, a guitarist, is well-known locally as producer-director of the university's Jazz Coffeehouse series, and for his occasional gigs at Le Corusse Rouge, he also has gained attention nationally as a composer. In the past three years, several of his compositions have been performed by groups in Mississippi, Connecticut and Massachusetts. And on Jan. 28, his "Duplicitous Encounter," a piece for cello and flute will be premiered in Boston.”

“It's a beautiful piece!”

“Scully was beaming when talking about the project, "I am very excited to get to travel to Boston and work with these phenomenal players."”

“I loved Duality in Time! Nothing like a good ole' Phrygian rock out.”
