BANTER is a rock band from Massachusetts, USA, formed by guitarist Dan Sheehan and drummer Joe Smith. The band have performed on famous stages from Boston to Austin including The Middle East, CBGB's, TT the Bear's and scores more, and have released 2 CDs, the Side One EP and the full-length Urban Pastures. The NOISE magazine called "Springtime in February" from Urban Pastures "the unofficial theme song of Central Square, de facto capital of the Boston music scene."
Banter's music has been featured on New England Cable News and numerous radio stations including their hometown rock airwaves at WBCN, WAAF and WERS.
Although Banter reunites from time to time, Dan Sheehan currently focuses on his band The Dan Sheehan Conspiracy while Joe Smith has authored the children's books The Substitute Kid and Faking It. Other past members are working in various careers. Venues played by Banter over the years include:
