SYNTHETAMINE is a synth-driven electronic band from Austin, TX. It's sole member is keyboardist/producer Robert Hamilton Thayer, who, over course of three decades has played with legendary bands like LOWER CLASS BRATS and JOEROCKHEAD . SYNTHETAMINE began in September of 2008 and had the first live show in early 2009. Now with 3 CD's out and working on a 4th, SYNTHETAMINE keeps the cool songs crankin!
Originally from El Paso, Texas Robert studied classical piano beginning at the age of nine until he was fifteen. Robert even entertained guests aboard the QE2 when he was only 14. After taking several years off to study Karate he began playing again and enrolled at UTEP's music department. That is where he discovered the synthesizer. For weeks he toiled endlessly trying to figure out what knobs and patches did. Then one day, it is rumored, that before synth lab he consumed 40mgs. of Dexidrene to help focus. Twenty minutes later, he had the full understanding of the analog synthesizer in a nutshell..Eight and one-half hours later Campus police had to kick him out of the synth lab and threatened to institutionalize him if he kept up.. With that SYNTHETAMINE was born..He has also played conventional keyboards in many, many bands like LOWER CLASS BRATS, JOEROCKHEAD and RED CHURCH MUESEUM
