Julia Santana a native New Yorker. As singer/songwriter, music has never ceased to be an inspirational expressive lifeline. Her performance experience dates back to the wee age of 5yrs. Constantly creating songs. Julia picked up her first guitar, a nylon string Yamaha, when she was a teenager and has never stopped, playing many of the major clubs in NYC.
“The Who” drew her heart to rock when she first saw the rock opera “Tommy”? Her heart jumped and right there and then, Julia knew "That's what I'm supposed to do!”
Her influences continued to grow from ABBA to Zappa; from Motown to Mozart; Latin Freestlye to Blues.
While continuing her solo career as a singer/songewriter, she has been signed to independent and major labels such as MicMac Records and Atlantic Records. She is a member of The National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences, ASCAP, and Equity.
Julia has also performed in several rock operas in leading roles such as the "Girl" in Elizabeth Swados "The Girl With The Incredible Feeling" and as "Mimi" in Jonathan Larson, Pulitzer Prize winner, "Rent" performing with an incredible talented cast that included Neil Patrick Harris and Wilson Cruz.
"Music is truly the fundamental pulse, the heart beat in every living being in the world. Music is in my heart; it is what weaves together the very fabric of my being. It is innate; it is within each and every one of us starting with a heartbeat the day that we are conceived, the day that I was conceived" says Julia Santana.
“Keep your dreams alive. Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication. Remember all things are possible for those who believe.” Gail Devers
