Hailing from Central Jersey where the “cover band is king,” 7Envy is an ambitious, up and coming band dedicated to bringing rock back to the contemporary music scene. The group produces an energetic, hard grunge sound similar to that of Breaking Benjamins and Halestorm. 7Envy’s live show, which has been seen at venues such as New York’s Le Poisson Rouge, New Jersey’s The Saint and Philadelphia’s Lickety Split, has an undeniable dynamic force. With Kelly Bennett on lead vocals, José Valencia on guitar, Dan Bulich on bass and John Curcio on drums, 7Envy defies the classification of the run of the mill chick fronted band. Bennett’s hard hitting, whaling vocals combined with the heavy and powerful guitar riffs of Valencia and the solid, paramount rhythm section of Bulich and Curcio, creates a presence that cuts through to bring out the hard rocker in every one of their listeners.
7Envy spawned during their time in a classical university music program. Having similar interests and investments in music, the members came together through their influences ranging from the classic rock greats like Janis Joplin and The Doors through to more current artists such as Nirvana, Tool and Seether. As students, 7Envy worked on their preliminary songs Tragedy, Sanctuary and Disgrace which were released on their 2010 EP Sinder. Their next project is a full length album due out late 2011.
