Aark is the musical exploration of songwriter and producer Mel Lester. Working in his home studio in the mountains of rural southwest Virginia, Lester combines elements of various genres to create sonic landscapes that are both fresh and familiar. He draws inspiration from such far-ranging sources as European downtempo, Japanese soundtracks, and 80s progressive rock. Lester's only previous public release was the debut album of South African artist Jono Aggett, which he composed, co-arranged, and financed. Music is only a part-time passion as he spreads his time among a family of wife and six children, ministry involvement, and running his own management consulting practice.
