Some would describe G dot's style as reminiscent of the 90's era hip hop because of his sharp word play and lyrical delivery. Yet his versatility helps him stand out amongst artists which wins him a new fan every time he performs.
An aspiring artist in Minneapolis, Minnesota's own G dot is a Nigerian immigrant. He is like many others who emigrated from abroad working to find a place in this society, going to school and working to make a living. It is interesting to note that his talent in hip hop music was an accidental discovery while attending college in Duluth, MN. G dot became enamored with the syncopated beats, the multi-faceted musical genres and the poetic word play of hip hop as he kept honing his skills till he graduated and moved back to Minneapolis to further his education and explore opportunities in the local hip-hop scene. As many have done before him, G dot became a hip hop artist-enterpreneur, selling CDs of his short mixtape: Da BIM.
In 2008 G dot released a full lenght EP called 'We Call Dat Sh!t Da Soda Pop!' This seminal work addressed his emotional state and thought process at the times before the release. Before that he performed at a few known open mic spots as well as some shows between Minneapolis and Duluth. G dot's style can be described as bold, entertaining, insightful and uplifting. His rhymes express a strong sense of individuality from a positive outlook as he explores the clashes between different societies, cultures, micro-cultures, and opinions.
