The Rowan Amber Mill formed by Stephen as a solo project in 2007, with Kim Guy and Terry Stacey joining in early in 2008 for the mini albums 'Folk Devils and Moral Panics' and 'Midsummers'. Sharon Eastwod joined in 2009 for the debut album 'Heartwood'.
In 2011 the band reverted back to a solo project with Stephen ploughing the lone furrow, breathing & recording in the Westcountry air.
The Rowan Amber Mill are purveyors of Woodland Folkadelica. The sound is Acoustic Guitar, WoodenStrings, WoodenWinds, Banjo, Wobbly Bass, voice recorded in the green woods of the Westcountry. The music is produced out of love of both 60s & 70's folkies and the current crop of “nu-folkists” such as Joanna Newsom, Espers, & Tunng. Modern tales of the timeless. Images hidden within pastoral landscapes. Music first & last. Expansive & Free. The Forest & Fields. Cheese & Onion.
