When Shane Marler called Nikki Moddelmog to see if she wanted to try and write a song together, she thought it was someone else's idea. Shane and Nikki were both on Digital Boy Records so Nikki thought the owner of the record label had try to play match maker. In reality, the call was Shane's idea without any coercion. While most songwriting partnerships yield very little, Shane and Nikki had three songs at the end of their first meeting. Since that time, the Moddelmog/Marler partnership has become one of the most exciting teams to come out of the Midwest in recent years.
The addition of Dennis Hardin, a multi-instrumentalist and all around "master of the mandolin" has added interest and intrigue to their tunes. Dr. Mark Foley rounds out the band. An unbelievably gifted player, Mark takes each song to a new level while maintaining a solid base the entire time.
The Mischief Makers are most exciting live. Their tunes are catchy and the instrumentalists improvise their solos so each show is different.
