Mason Stevens is primarily a guitarist (and more recently diddly-boist) who at times uses synthesizers to create a mystical aura around his compositions. He is a pioneer in space blues music, and has been credited with the first true space blues album "Luna Waves", which was recorded in the late 80s and shopped around, but not released until 2001 after being signed to the Space For Music Label run by Tony Gerber. He has 3 space blues solo albums out ("Luna Waves", "One Step Into The Unknown", and "Mirage"). His music has been featured on nationally syndicated radio shows including Hearts Of Space, Echoes, and Coast To Coast AM with George Noory. His earliest influences were 60's Soul and Blues, later followed by Jazz ( studying at Berklee College Of Music) and Flamenco(mentored by legendary guitarist Diego del Gastor while living in Moron de la Frontera Spain for 6 months). During his composition studies at Berklee he became particularly interested in new methods of musical expression and innovation. He began to experiment with free form improvisation, including a jaunt into atonal rock. During the mid 80s while living in Nashville he teamed up with space musicians Tony Gerber and William Linton and recorded the classic space album "Cosmic Flight". This was recorded as a free form improvisational piece. Unlike his Berklee free form improvisational days which had no key, in this case there was an indication of a key. Today he continues free form improvisation with Nashville blues and space group Cotton Blossom Band (members also include Tony Gerber, Mike Doster, and Roy "Futureman" Wooten) as well as Clarksdale, MS primitive Delta alien blues duo Superbad Kontrafusion(with RL BBQ aka Robin Lane).
