Black Queen Speaks (BQS) is a hard rock band out of Houston, TX. Formed in May of 2008, the members gravitated toward each other in hopes of producing music that spoke to the passion in people. It starts with the tight, grooving licks of bass player Pez Lopez. Many a hip has been compelled to sway at the insistence of this soulful BQS bass player. Drummer Josh Skiffington adds lyrical, driving beats that make BQS’ rhythm section a strange amalgamation of rock, funk and R&B. The music is enlivened when the Black Queen’s guitar player, D2 Day, joins in with passionate and fiery rock riffs. D2 lets everyone know that this is indeed rock and roll, an old flavor remade perhaps, but the same passion bands like Led Zeppelin, Soundgarden, Jane’s Addiction and others wanted to evoke in people. BQS has other facets as well. Singer, Mike Blas, imbue the band with an esoteric and ethereal presence. BQS has been told by listeners that they can hear The Doors and a Pink Floyd influence.
