The Pourmen is a New Bedford-based five piece band that blends many Celtic, Folk, Bluegrass and Rock influences to craft heart-felt songs from the Cobblestone Streets and Salty Pubs of the “Whaling City”. Instrumentation includes fiddle, mandolin, tenor banjo, guitar, banjo bass and cocktail drum kit.
The Pourmen was established in January 2013 and the band played its first shows in New Bedford on Saint Patrick’s Day, sharing the stage with The O’Tooles (New Bedford) and The Pubcrawlers (Portland, Maine). The Pourmen have since earned steady gigs at many SouthCoast venues including The Inn on Shipyard Park (Mattapoisett f/k/a The Mattapoisett Inn), The Celtic Coffeehouse, Slainte (formerly The Catwalk), Hibernia, Kirby's Irish Pub and No Problemo.
In August 2013, The Pourmen turned to Ron Poitras at Feedback Studio and recorded their debut EP “A Little Taste of The Pourmen”. The CD is available for free listening and/or downloading at http://thepourmen.bandcamp.com.
In September 2013, The Pourmen played a memorable show at The Asylum in Portland, Maine with The Pubcrawlers, Swaggerin’ Growlers and Motor Creeps; following which the band headlined The Cape Cod Brew Fest at the Barnstable County Fairgrounds. The Pourmen have also appeared on stage in Boston (The Church) opening for The Mahones (from Montreal, Canada); and, on March 5, 2014, The Pourmen opened for The Tossers (from Chicago, Illinois) and Continental (featuring Dropkick Murphys founding member Rick Barton) at Club Fete in Providence, RI.
The band is currently completing a full length CD with Ron Poitras and expects to release the CD in summer of 2014.
