This is the Grass Band
Formed as a three piece band in 2002 Cris, Dan, and Mark found instant chemistry in their musical connection. This connection was explored through the songs of other artists, in other words they were a cover band. Their common (and not so common) influences fueled their exploration of this new collaboration. Though the material was not their own, the sound that began to emerge had a distinct character all it's own, funky, high energy very danceable rock and roll. Then in 2003 Harmonica Joe was invited to jam, once again there was instant chemistry.
The first and only incarnation of the Grass Band was born; Cris on Drums, Dan on Bass, Mark on Guitar and Vocals, and Joe on Harmonica. The added dimension of a new member brought new influences and ideas, once again explored through the material of other artists. As the sound of the new four piece evolved, so too did the material, The Grass Band began to write their own songs. The writing of original material began as a collaborative process and continues to be so today. Armed with a mix of original and cover material, the band started to gig. Slowly at first, mainly at private parties, then at public venues.
The experience of performing live is what it's all about for the band, they thrive in front of an audience, enjoying the interchange of energy between band and audience. The energy that the band brings to the stage is infectious and genuine. When they play, people move! The players have a deep understanding of each others musical expression resulting in a cohesive and adventurous sound that offers everyone with an ear for good funky rock and roll an opportunity to shake their collective booty. Sharing a love for music, the four have forged a journey of creative expression through the power of sonic energy. Watch out world, the Grass Band is going to grow on you.....
