Krittika, known to friends as Kika, is seventeen years old and lives in Cincinnati.
Her love of music began with Aaron Carter and N*SYNC, but quickly began to shape into a love for bands like Paramore by middle school.
She began singing in choirs and playing guitar in eighth grade. Combined with base knowledge of piano from early lessons, she started covering songs in the comfort of her home.
It wasn’t until she started fiddling with a cheap ukulele off of Amazon that she came into her own. Armed with her ukulele and a rush of confidence, she auditioned to play as an intermission act at Sycamore High School’s Battle of the Bands.
Since then, that one cover of “Skinny Love” in front of the student body has been the impetus for a slew of small performances at open mic nights, grad parties, and benefit concerts.
In late 2013, Kika decided that it was time to expand her passion. She invested in microphone with markedly better quality than her laptop, and her fanbase has been expanding ever since.
She regularly posts covers on her Bandcamp website, with a swiftly growing audience. More recently, she’s ventured into original music.
As of now, she has one EP of covers available, and hopes to have something resembling a full length album by the end of the year; if not that, at least a lengthy repertoire of original work!
Kika knows she is young, but music is what she loves, and she wants to share that.
