18 Stories consists of one woman, two men and a sound-conscious guitar player. With a rather tall tale that’ll take some time to spin if you’re willing to pull up a chair and listen, this group wants to leave their sweat on the stage and the crowd pumped as they leave the gig. Balancing a run of the mill work/life existence with a desire to bring their sound to the people, 18 Stories isn’t bigger than life, but it’s bigger than you (by 180 feet).
As musicians, they believe in a more traditional verse/chorus/bridge philosophy of songwriting. Does that flashy guitar player make you recall the ‘80s? No, it’s firmly entrenched in the present day with a twist on your favorite classic rock melodies. The rhythm section locks in as the singer draws the listener in. 18 Stories emphasizes vocals with layered guitars over a solid rhythm section.
This four-piece rock group from St. Louis is a collection of longtime friends who originally formed the band Dear Abbey while still in high school. Growing up on a blend of bad ass classic and indie rock, the band is back for another try. 18 Stories features Scott Allen, Rob Lloyd, Bill Lloyd and Pam Briddell-Schwander.
