Born and Raised in Marin County California, Becky Mimiaga has been studying voice since age 11. She started writing and performing her own music at age 16, while fronting various rock, folk and blues bands. She spent two years studying classical voice at Skidmore College before transferring to the New School For Jazz and Contemporary Music. There, she completed her bachelors in Vocal Performance studies.
Currently, she gives private voice and piano lessons through R&N Music Studio in Chatham NJ, Teacher-tone, The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in Manhattan and from her home in Brooklyn. When she is not teaching, she is writing and performing her own music with her band around New York City.
Her music is a unique blend of folk and blues. She writes in long, through composed forms. She sings and plays acoustic piano, with a cellist, drummer and guitar player.
