Zeno the Ruler formally known as Xplo-sev, a Brooklyn native raise in a small town called North in South Carolina, found a love for music at an early age. She got her start playing drums in her church and was also the drum captain for her high school band. Like everyone who grew up in the 90’s Zeno was influenced by some of the greatest in hip hop Tupac, Lauren Hill and Outkast, to name a few. She officially began her music career at the age of 15 when she was offered her first indie deals. (Ironfist Ent. & Money Hunters LLC in Queens NY) With her versatile writing ability, southern swag, and uptown lyrical flow Zeno caught the ears of Lucas Kincaid, producer & CEO of Money Hunters LLC. With production by Kincaid Zeno recorded her first LP. This is also when, due to her laid back style but explosive Lyrics, the two came up with her first alias. Sadly due to distribution and relocation the album was never released.
Zeno has been up for major deals. Most recently an offer from 47halsey/University records (responsible for acts like Mya & Dru Hill..)/ warner music but due to disputes with one of their A&R’s the deal didn’t work out. She has been featured on many mixtapes American Idol hosted by DJ Snakeeyes, Sin City by Big City Productions hosted by DJ Kay Slay and 5 Deadly Venoms hosted by DJ Pimpsun to name a few.
In summer 2013 through DGM entertainment Zeno the Ruler released her single “Don't Do It” produced by Kydd beats. The single is getting lots of internet spins & positive blog reviews. #FuckDatDoe the mixtape will follow the single on Aug 23rd & which will include both production & a little singing from the versatile hip hoper. “I hope to prove that I’m one of the best in the game with or without a deal.” What Zeno wants people to take from her music is a feeling of “damn she’s a hot artist”, and not just “hot for a female artist” but simply a “hot artist”, that music is about feelings and expression none of which are material & last but not least, that her love for hip hop is deeper than money.
