I began drumming in my middle school years. I studied snare drum and xylophone/marimba techniques under Mario Luna in Corpus Christi, TX. I also began studies with local jazz drummer Paul Bowman. After entering the marching band drum corps years, I began studying with Ron Schermerhorn leading up to participation in several snare solo competitions across Texas, and ended with a snare solo at the 2009 PASIC National Drum Competition in Indianapolis, IN. The PASIC convention opened my eyes to drumming after attending clinics from some of the best drummers in the world. Soon after that,
I attended Jazz Workshops with Ed Soph (University of North Texas) and studied Funk/R&B with Jim Payne (Berklee School of Music). I later spent some time in New York City studying drums at The Drummer's Collective . I returned to Corpus Christi to pursue a business degree at Texas A&M Corpus Christi and during summer of 2012, I was asked to join a touring reggae/surf rock band (The Weakday Boyz) performing at various venues across Texas. In the summer of 2013, I played for an alternative rock/country band (The Elise), and lead them to the winning position in the Battle of the Bands to open for Ziegfest - CC. A great experience with what it takes to package and market a band.
I am now working with several different projects such as the Steven James Band (CC, TX - Southern Rock), Violet Crush (CC, TX - Rock), Beach Stone Rise (CC, TX - Reggae/Surf Rock), Mystery Achievement (Austin TX – Alternative), and done some studio musician work at The Loop Studios (CC, TX). I continue to search for musical diversity, the opportunity to perfect my craft, and to explore the business to it's fullest.
