Grew up in Winter Park, FL in 1994. Lived there for about 5 years, then moved to Columbia, SC and stayed there about 3-4 years. Finally moved to Durham, NC and have lived there ever since. Shortly after moving to Durham, my parents divorced and my Dad moved back to SC and I stayed in Durham with my Mom and younger brother and sister. You may be wondering how I got started playing and singing music, though. Well, I started taking piano lessons when I was about 6 and stuck with it faithfully for about 8 years. I still enjoyed playing, but wanted to do something different, so at the start of middle school, I picked up the trumpet and stuck with that all the way through my senior year of high school. I was first chair in 7th and 8th grade and in high school all four years, as well as the section leader for the brass section in the marching band my last two years. My interest in the piano was slowly diminishing during my high school years, however and I eventually lost interest in the piano. During my junior and senior year was when I first picked up a guitar. For some reason, it came to me the quickest and was the most comfortable out of all instruments I’ve ever played. I was involved in the worship band at my church where I started on just guitar and eventually sang and led worship on occasions, as well as filling in for the drummer when he was out. I guess you could say music has been with me my whole life! Music has always, without a doubt been my coping mechanism for everything in life. It’s one of those things that always seems to bring people together, no matter what. I’m so thankful that God has gifted me with this ability to play and sing music and whatever His plan is for me, I believe that He will use me to change people’s lives through music somehow. In addition to being part of the talented AKM band, I’m currently writing my own music and hope that one day, I’ll be able to share it with the world.
