The Djangophiles....PDX / Bio

Our main influence is our namesake...the great Belgian/French Gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt.

Django Reinhardt has astounded and thrilled numerous generations of guitar players and jazz lovers with his amazing command of the guitar. Together with Stephane Grappeli they formed the famous “Hot club of France” in 1934 , and based on the Gypsy jazz guitar stylings of Django , a whole new style of Jazz was developed….called Le jazz hot .

The Djangophiles play as a revolving ensemble...Duo to quintet depending on space, requirements, and budget.

The Djangophiles , in keeping with the tradition of the music use only acoustic instruments ,and use sound reinforcement only when absolutely necessary....Perfect for smaller gatherings or large events.
