What up, homies, we're from Ocean Beach, CA. Take blues, funk and rock, add some gunpowder and throw it in blender, and that's what we sound like. No, not the sound of people screaming from blender shards lodged in their bodies. Among others the band consists of brothers Aaron and Justin Markland, and their father Steve “Tunker” Markland, all born and raised in Ocean Beach. Justin Markland brings the funk bass with the likes of Flea and Les Claypool, and to top it off, he is an ex-Marincore Sniper. Tunker is a 200lb. monster who blasts the harmonica reminiscent of Magic Dick and John Mayall. Randy Jones brings the heat with his poppy backbeat influenced by drummers like Don Brewer from Grand Funk and Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater, and has played in many popular San Diego bands over the years. Last but not least Aaron Markland, currently a Paramedic Firefighter, writes, plays, and sings with the rhythm of Jack Johnson coupled with the attitude of Jack White. Aaron recorded his last solo album entitled “Rewind” at Treefort Studios in L.A. and was produced by Chris Julian (Billy Idol, Queen Latifah) and Robert Vaughn (CBS, Sony). Several of Aaron’s songs were featured in Noah Taffolla’s acclaimed “Wonderland” documentary series of Ocean Beach. MARKLAND just headlined the Wonderland Stage at the 2014 Ocean Beach Street Fair where they officially released their debut self-titled album produced by OB local Michael Head of "The Country Rockin' Rebels" at Headtrap Music Studio in La Mesa. In the few short months after their debut album release, MARKLAND has sold over 1000 downloads, can be heard on radio stations across California, Arizona, and New Mexico, and will be featured in a documentary set to be released 2015.
