jva / Bio

Born in Los Angeles, Jim Walker performed with several bands before forming the quirky pop group, Lost Anthony, which existed in the late 80’s.
Good luck came when Phil Joanou, (director - U2: RATTLE AND HUM, GRIDIRON GANG) asked Jim to write a song for his first feature film, Universal Picture’s THREE O’CLOCK HIGH. Jim’s song SOMETHING TO REMEMBER ME BY (produced by legendary session drummer/producer Rick Marotta) was featured throughout the film.
Walker spent the next few years with Marotta, writing songs and performing live. He also scored the films COVER GIRL MURDERS and DEAD AIR, plus episodes of HBO’S - TALES FROM THE CRYPT and Fox’s - DOWN THE SHORE.
After brief signings with RCA and Geffen Records, Jim moved to Portland, Oregon where he met uber-musician Tim Ellis. The two handsome men began working as the mighty acoustic power-duo called JIM WALKER / TIM ELLIS.

Tim Ellis has been a professional musician since the age of thirteen. He has performed and/or recorded with Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Spencer Davis, The Platters, The Ink Spots, 80's popster Tommy Tutone, country stars Mac Davis and Larry Gatlin, and others. He’s performed with award-winning composer Fred Karlin at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles with Bill Conte and the Academy Awards Orchestra, the Beach Boys featuring Al Jardine, Wilson Phillips, and Dennis Dragun of The Captain and Tennille. Tim currently works with Polygram Recording artists Val Gardena and Windham Hill Recording artists Jeff Johnson and Brian Dunning.

Tim records and performs regularly with Jim Walker as well as local favorites Craig Carothers, Tom Grant, Mary Kadderly, Michael Allen Harrison, and John Nilsen. He’s shared the stage with Tom Petty, Robben Ford, Jefferson Starship, Paula Cole, Jonatha Brooke, Michael MacDonald, and Robert Cray.

Tim also composes music for film and video. His work includes a PBS/Frontline documentary THE EXECUTION, national advertising spots for Microsoft, Intel, Nike, and long form video work with CMDevelopment.
As a producer, Tim has worked with Jesus Presley, The Countrypolitans, Toni Land, Lilith Fair performer Stephanie Schneiderman and keyboardist Robert O'Hearn.

Tim is a partner in the music recording facility Kung Fu Bakery Recording located in Portland.
Jim and Tim also co-scored the modern dance project ETHOS.
The duo has opened for Crash Test Dummies, Little Feat, Karla Bonoff, Boz Scaggs, Warren Zevon, and others.
Jim has released twenty cds of original music on his own independent label JVAMUSIC, including the latest, LET'S MAKE A PROBLEM.
