Pianist Brandon Daggerhart and drummer Joe Hilton met in middle school in the mid 90s. After high school they fell out of touch, all the while each pursuing their own individual musical adventures. Recently, they reconnected in Winston-Salem, North Carolina where Daggerhart was putting together a new project of original music and needed a drummer --- but not just any drummer. Having played in a punk band together in high school, he had been comparing every drummer since to Hilton. Daggerhart knew that it would take Hilton's versatility to maneuver the amalgam of styles present in his songs: progressive rock, jazz, funk, piano rock - to name a few. Upon reuniting and jamming together, Fade the Moon was born. When the duo added Jason Faylen to the lineup, they got more than just a bassist. Faylen's low end quickly became an indispensable element, tightening and solidifying the group's sound. The group finished their debut EP, "Gold Could Be Had," at Zoo Station Studios in March 2013.
