In the year approaching the last year on the Mayan Calendar—2012—Year of the Dragon prepares to release its next e.p., Five Fingers of Def! The band plans on being on the road from 2011 on through 2012, which is coincidentally the next chinese year of the dragon!

It’s been a road long traveled for the two primary members and main architects of YOTD, Roderick ‘Rodcore’ Palmer and ‘Dirty Walt’ Kibby. They have gone through many shows, many members and much industry due paying to get to where they are now, but the duo insists those lessons were well-learned and are ready for the next level!

The band has come a long way since Rodcore founded it in 2000. There have been various starts and stops with different incarnations of YOTD in the past between stints with other Los Angeles based bands, but it was not until Dirty Walt left the band that he co-founded and co-led for over twenty-five years, Ska-Punk-Funk legends Fishbone, along with fellow Fishbone solider guitarist Spacey T, that the seeds of the current YOTD were planted.

In 2006, the three recorded and self-released an EP, A Time To Love Is A Time To Bleed which received critical acclaim and sold well through the internet and at shows. Wanting to take things to the next level, Dirty Walt and Rodcore, put together a regular band and started gigging weekly around Los Angeles and the surrounding areas, capitalizing on Fishbone's loyal fan base and attracting new fans of their own with YOTD's own brand of hardcore with a funk groove and soulful tag team vocals.

Around this time, the band began a partnership with a start-up indie label, The International Brotherhood of Consequential Truth that would result in the brand new YOTD release, Blunt Force Karma, the band's first full-length effort. Formerly full partners in the label, which also released Dirty Walt's second solo record and first since leaving Fishbone, Still Smokin', YOTD has left that label and wishes them well with future endeavors.

There was significant touring and gigging in the West Coast to support the album, and now the band’s following has grown and is ready for the sonic burst provided by the band’s upcoming e.p., FIVE FINGERS OF DEF! The new e.p., produced by Greg Hetson (guitarist, Bad Religion/Circle Jerks) and featuring guest players the Dubber on guitar and Fishbone’s Norwood Fisher handling bass, is a five song explosion filled with the energy and raw fury of punk with grooves you can dance to as well!

Look out for the band—now rounded out by Marc Rey on guitar, T-Bone on bass and long-time YOTD stalwart Kerim Imes on drums—to hit a city near you supporting the e.p., followed by a full-length effort in 2012!

A Time To Love Is A Time To Bleed & Blunt Force Karma available now and available at www.theibct.com and CDBaby. Five Fingers of Def now available at www.yotd.la or on iTunes!
