Want more than the Duo?
Lil’ Red & The Rooster w/ Keys, Horns, Guitar or Harmonica
So you want more … we can work with that by simply adding a second soloist.
Lil’ Red & The Rooster w/ Bass
So you don’t like loopers … we understand. We can replace it with a bass. This version keeps Lil’ Red on percussion keeping the sound and costs intimate. If you like this set up and want to expand, how about adding a piano or bari or tenor sax.
Lil’ Red & The Rooster Band
Looking for the big sound? Lil Red and The Rooster with a rhythm section gets Lil Red out from behind the drum and dancing with washboard in toe and lets Pascal Fouquet fly with complete abandon on his solos. They begin with the roots and let this inspire them in their exploration of electric blues including Jump, Boogie, Texas, Chicago, and Old School Rhythm and Blues. Occasionally, Lil’ Red’s jazz and punk rock background will sneak in the mix. Available with horns and keyboard as well.
So ya wanna hear the long story?
Lil’ Red met Pascal Fouquet one serendipitous night in Paris at Le Caveau de la Houchette. She had been working with the Roy Hart Center, a school for extended voice studies, in Les Cevennes, France. On a weekend in Paris, her friends dragged her to a club for “rock dancing”. Having been a punk rocker she imagined CBGBs and was surprised to find herself in a dungeon of Parisian bee-bop swingers dancing to The Drew Davies Rhythm Combo featuring Pascal Fouquet on guitar. Well to make a long French comedy short lets just say Pascal was hypnotized by the free-spirited dancing of Lil’ Red, and she, though weary of musicians, found him charming enough to take the risk. They first tried to reinventing Pascal’s old group The Hoodoomen, an award winning French blues band, as Jenny Lee & The Hoodoomen, but it didn’t take off. It did give fruition to a 7 track CD, Pretty Gritty City, with guests Drew Davies, Thomas Troussier and Pascal’s daughter Pauline Fouquet. In 2010, on a visit to chez Milligan in Westerville, Ohio they tried out a duo under the guise of Sugar Blues & Daddy-O at Java Central. They were pleased to find an appreciative public for their music. Boogie pianist Ricky Nye brought them down to Cincy to play, and this double bill continues to this day. In 2013, they changed their name to Lil’ Red & The Rooster or Lil’ Red & The Roosters and they recorded their first CD, Out Of The Coop!, in true roots fashion in their apartment in France. The duo continued to tour and in 2014 won the Columbus Blues Challenge, which sent them to Memphis for the 2015 IBC. The Columbus Blues scene welcomed them with open arms. On return the band, Lil’ Red & The Roosters, premiered at the “Le Nuit de Blues” at Zenith de Caen to 1,200 people and were selected as finalists in the 2015 French Blues Challenge. Juggling names became too confusing, so we are now simply Lil’ Red & The Rooster. In September 2015 we toured to India for a whirlwind adventure. Well that’s the past, now we’re flowing on divine wind! Is there a new CD for 2016 whispering on that wind?
