A child of a gospel singing teacher and a jazz saxophonist, music was a path already set in stone for Colorado native, Dax Oliver. Some of his influences include Stevie Wonder, Prince, Ella Fitzgerald, Muhsinah and Little Dragon. Dax is always searching and dreaming in aspiration to exceed himself musically, and of him it has been said that some artistry is natural and it is that natural ability coupled with constant growth that makes Dax Oliver so phenomenal.
Dax went to Hampton University for vocal music performance with an emphasis in Opera. He studied under the tutelage of the esteemed Mrs. Lorraine Bell. While at Hampton, Dax was able to travel all over the US performing with the historic Hampton University Concert Choir under the direction of Mr. Royzell L. Dillard. As time progressed, he eventually left from Hampton to pursue a career in commercial music. Dax has performed with and opened for a great number of talented artists including Dave Hollister, Natalie “The Floacist” Stewart, Tank, Peter Eldridge of the New York Voices, Terrill Paul, Jofoke, Josiah Martin and SuCh. Currently, Dax sings frequently at Jazz@Jack’s and is involved with a number of projects including a mixtape titled “Finding Eden” scheduled to release in 2014.
