Proud to call itself part of Boston's colorful progressive music scene, Ryan Jackson Troika's furious rock sound impacts its audience with a reverence for classic progressive music alongside the punch and finesse of the best of modern psychedelic and hard rock, evoking Mutemath, Queens of the Stone Age and Porcupine Tree just as ably as Yes, Rush, and Focus.
Guitarist-vocalist Ryan Jackson and his bandmates Derek Van Wormer (bass), Chris Anderson (drums) and Peter Danilchuk (keyboards) are well-schooled in the classics, having interpreted and performed live sets of such legends as King Crimson and Frank Zappa. It was under this pretense that the group formed its present incarnation, and with the guiding principles of those old masters, the band developed a sound that reflects the best of the past while maintaining a sharp gaze toward the future. All four members are also impeccably handsome.
Ryan has been performing in cutting-edge Boston bands for over a decade, collaborating with the variety of amazing musical talent the city has to offer, such as The Shills, Left Hand Does, The Doctors Fox, Ellis Ashbrook, School for Robots, and Strange Changes. After releasing his solo debut "Out of Nothingness" in 2009, Ryan assembled a series of lineups to bring his intricate compositions to life, thus forming Ryan Jackson Troika. After settling on today's permanent four-piece lineup in late 2012, Ryan released his second album "Plethora" in early 2013 to a series of highly receptive audiences, and continued to bring the band's mathematical force and intricacy to stages around Boston throughout the spring and summer.
Stay tuned throughout 2014 for new music and concerts - we are excited to bring our sound to new frontiers!
