The origins of Gravity Plan dates back to 1990, in the college music scene of San Luis Obispo California, where collaborating guitar players and songwriters, Trevor Perry and Rick Ford, started their first band “Moon River”. The original sound and concept was based on the desire to create guitar based psychedelic pop that was fueled by noise…think, Sonic Youth, Swervedriver, Flaming Lips and REM. The band took their efforts to San Francisco in the early 90’s. After a short stint in the SF club scene, Moon River called it quits. Perry and Ford remained close friends but both left San Francisco and pursued their musical endeavors separately.
The original Gravity Plan lineup began in the late 2006 with founding members Rick Ford (Guitar,Vocals), Ken Adams (Vocals, Guitar), Bob Loeper (Bass) and Bobby Michener (Drums). The band played regularly at venues in Marin and San Francisco and wrote and recorded at their studio in San Rafael. In 2009, Perry returned to the bay area and joined the band as a third guitarist/multi instrumentalist. The band continued to play the local scene under this line up for the next couple of years. In 2011, the band under went another personnel change, losing Adams, and Loeper. With the addition of new found 'Bassist Extraordinaire' Pat Ennis; Ford, Michener and Perry have continued with Gravity Plan, by creating a lineup that enables the original intent, sound and chemistry devised by Ford and Perry in the early 90’s.
