Jerry Pellegrino grew up in Plainfield, New Jersey (USA). A born musician, he started taking piano lessons at age 8. In high school he added drums to his repertoire, and with his brother Jim went on to study at the prestigious Harlem Jazz Mobile in New York.
Jerry moved out to the West coast in 1979, where he quickly established himself as a performer and teacher in the Los Angeles area. Still only in his 20's, he appeared in the 1984 Summer Olympics opening ceremonies, 1986 United Cerebral Palsy Telethon with John Ritter, and taught a master class at Weber State College in Ogden, UT. Jerry has also worked in the film industry. Among his credits are Another You (1991), and Mambo Kings (1992). He is a member of the American Society of Authors and Composers.
For the last 25 years, Jerry has been dedicated to teaching full time, bringing his love of music to the next generation of performers. Jerry is a firm believer in the power of music to better the lives of those less fortunate than he. Since 2011, he has headlined annual benefit concerts at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center, in order to raise money for the R.B. Union High School band and music program. He also plays monthly for the residents of the Belmont Village assisted living residence in Rancho Palos Verdes. Jerry is currently in demand on the cruise ship circuit in Europe, as well as international jazz concerts throughout Asia.
