Motown Moe takes his music to a different level adding more layering with Rhodes, synthesizer’s, along with bass and horns additions to provide more depth to the instrumentals. Moe identifies himself as not just an artist, but also as a producer who enjoys experimenting with live synth and pianos/VSTs/samples. Motown Moe has worked closely on quite a few projects with artist and producer Nate Harasim on his 11 albums. Nate also produced the following songs on prior CDs (“Unconditional Love”) included on the Weather Channels National line up in 2010 as well as (“Good Night Manhattan”) and (Riding into the Sunset” Smooth Remix). His latest album “Higher Nature” explores Moe’s funky, gospel, chill and house sides with tracks such as “Day Dreaming” a synthesizer chill groove as well as “So Sweet And Tender” a funk filled smooth jazz track the new album is available on iTunes & Amazon music.
Moe’s musical influences range from early MFSB to Jeff Lorber while growing up in Detroit listening to and becoming a young fan of the legendary music of radio in station WJZZ. He would mix out the vocals of many songs of that era and make instrumental versions on eight tracks. His favorites would become known as founders of what is now considered to be the smooth jazz genre, including Tom Scott and LA Express, Ramsey Lewis, Herbie Hancock, Ronnie Laws, Stanley Clarke, Bob James, David Sanborn, Salsoul Orchestra, Rodney Franklin.
Motown Moe’s music does expand into other genres, such as chill lounge, new age, RnB and pop sounds. Enjoying many genres of music other than smooth jazz.
On Motown Moe’s numerous past projects, he has worked with artists from London and Paris to Nashville, working and collaborating with other artists gives you a foundation of ideas to make songs unique. Moe enjoys his numerous hours spent in his home studio producing, mixing, mastering.
