Matchless has slowly built a loyal base of followers that awaited with anticipatiion the release of their first EP in early 2009 which was more of a demo and only consisted of 6 tracks. Completely financed by the band members and in an effort to gain notoriety for future bookings the EP was favorably welcomed by the public and critics which voted Matchless Montreal's most up-rising band of 2009. Although the quality of the sound and arrangements was disputable because of the lesser means, the album still attracted positive attention and allowed Matchless to be a serious contender on the punk music scene and a main feature at the Red hot and blues festival. With the encouragements of the audience that attended several of their shows and waited with anticipation, another album was recently released entitled Randomly Generated Numbers. Thepunksite.com has said about RGN that "Every chord finds that perfect balance between pulsating pedal work and distortion, backed by a ton of atmospheric sounds and moments of toned down spoken word", it has also been chosen as one of the best 10 albums of 2010 by its readers. Being the only group amongst these 10 albums not to be associated with any record label, Matchless is currently self represented and always looking to perform in more venues while working on the release of a third album for 2014.
