Hi, I’m Rachel and I am a 17 year old singer/songwriter. I love to write, compose, sing, play and perform music. If you ask me what my very favourite thing to do is – I would say write. When I write I openly express my feelings and emotions – and for me that is how I get through all kinds of situations. All my songs come from my heart. I love talking to people of all ages and love to see them smile. I don’t necessarily stick to one genre of music but love all kinds of music including new and old country, classic rock, jazz and alternate pop. I find that I draw inspiration for my songs from life events or things that have affected me in some way.
I am so thankful for all of the incredible opportunities that I have been blessed with including singing at: the Opening Ceremonies of the International Children’s Winter Games, YVR Canucks for Kids Charitable Event, anthem for the Vancouver Canucks (NHL), anthem and halftime for the BC Lions Football (CFL), and Showcases during CCMA Music Week for the past three years. When I was 11 years old I even got to sing with the legendary Kenny Rogers which was a huge moment in my life. I keep busy singing at festivals, events, coffee shops, and of course the anthems for my hometown hockey, baseball and football teams.
I am continually writing new songs and recently won at a youth driven environmental International conference with an original song about the beauty of nature called I Wonder. Another one of my original compositions was just included on Elektrokore Music’s international compilation album Déjà Vu, which included 17 Indie artists from around the world. I was really honoured to be chosen to represent Canada! I have just released my new single called “What is Love” and would love if you would take a listen.
The most important thing for me is being able to share my music with people. Thank you for listening. ~ Love Always, Rachel
