CW SMITH is a multi-instrumentalist, or as he prefers, a utility musician, able to compose and play a part on any of a dozen musical instruments ranging from guitar, bass and drums to mandolin, baritone guitar, harmonica and sitar. CW has been composing music since 1979, and recording since 1986. His songs are inspired by his love of family; his deep appreciation for the rock, folk, reggae, blues and jazz music of the 20th century; and his profound joy in helping people have a good time through music.
CW Smith has lived in and around central Iowa all his life (other than one summer spent on Long Island), and has recorded almost all of his music there. His newest CD, A Function of Time, is available at his online store: http://store.cwsmith.fm
SiR BUTCH BACH (Drummer,Composer,Producer,Singer Songwriter,Keys,Guitar,Vocals) Originally from the Bronx, New York City, he has called Des Moines Iowa his home for the past 25 years. From Rock, Country, Soul and Blues to Bluegrass, Bach has drummed up some incredible accomplishments to date.
Internationally, he has performed with named talents like Daylon Wear (son-in-law of legendary country artist Johnny Cash) and who wrote Faith Hill’s first #1 hit “Let's Go To Vegas”. Touring with headliner Kent Burnside (grandson of Blues legend R. L. Burnside), Bach drummed at top blues clubs across America including The House of Blues (several times), B. B. King Blues Club, Buddy Guy’s Legends as well as several national Blues festivals. Sharing the stage with notable stars, such as Darryl Worely, The Kinleys and The Oak Ridge Boys, Bach has also performed with The Tammy Wynette Band. Over the years Bach has enjoyed touring and recording with many unknown, yet talented, artists/bands, as well.
Bob Jones, (singer and guitarist of Bill Monroe's Blue Grass Boys and a regular at the Grand Ole Opry) formed The Blue Ridge Mountain Boys in the late 1960s. Named Bluegrass Band of the Year by the California State Bluegrass Federation in 1979, they have gone on to spread bluegrass around the world. Bob Jones asked Bach to drum for the group when they headlined the 1998 bluegrass festival in New Mexico — a groundbreaking first in bluegrass music history. Until then, drummers had been excluded from bluegrass bands’ performances and recordings.
Up front and center and at home on any stage, SiR BUTCH BACH has performed in venues large and small. From concerts and outdoor arenas with audiences of 30,000 to cruise ships, large nightclubs, honky tonks, small local bars and coffeehouses, Bach enjoys them all. He has been described as an “excellent, all-round, solid, simple, groovy drummer with a back beat, chops, charisma and style — a true pro.”
Multi-talented, Bach also has a large following as a successful solo musician, singer and songwriter in addition to music producer. Currently SiR BUTCH BACH is the #2 Rock Artist (and in the Top 10 in All Genres) in the state of Iowa on the Top 100 Music Charts at Reverbnation.com. Busy recording and performing his solo music, Bach is also in musical partnership with several other recording artists. SiR BUTCH BACH is constantly active on stage or in the recording studio. What more can be said? He is a Bach, Music is in his blood.
