Modern Sound Library or 'MSL' is a collective of musicians, with diverse influences, that produces exciting & distinctive music. Four seasoned musicians, with war stories of previous bands and set ups, have come together to finally find their natural musical home.
Each component part of the band has an important role to play, but the sum of all parts creates a style of music that is, at times, a crazy but harmonious mix and amalgamation of everything that's ever influenced them over the years.
If you ask them they would describe their style as soundtrack music mixed with pop and rock 'n' roll. Inspired by 70's library music (think "The Sweeney"), Ennio Morricone and Serge Gainsbourg; MSL sound like Tarantino's go-to guys for ready-made film soundtracks. Although this is true, sometimes a melodic pop element (inspired by The Beatles) shines through more clearly, other times it’s rock ‘n’ roll and sometimes it's pure old-fashioned blues. They love their riffs, harmonies and above all the groove!
