ShawnFaye is a singer-songwriter, playwright, and producer. Based out of a small town outside of Chicago, IL.
With a new release single Title, “ You Bring Out The Best In Me.” soon to follow with a EP album Title, “These Walls.”
Her original heart felt songs explore theme of hope, redemption, growth, and love. A season vocalist captivating the essence of life experience, delivering profound lyrics and music to stir the soul.
Grew up in Englewood Southside of Chicago. ShawnFaye began singing as early as 6 years old. Intrigued with the lyrics and music of the recording artists The Fifth Dimension featuring Marilyn McCoo, listening over and over again to a 1970 classic song “One Last Bell To Answer; She explains, “I naturally gravitate to this style of music and the emotional lyrics. There is a timelessness feeling to it that I love.” This influence helped her to write her first musical stage play at the age of nine. Titled, “Traveling God’s Way.” Self-Produced and Directed, with the assistance of teachers and classmates. Her play delivering a stellar performance to the student and faculty of Sacred Heart Catholic School in Chicago.
By age seventeen, ShawnFaye landed her first paying gig singing at a popular night club called the “Four Horsemen” in Chicago. Which prompted her to join several local bands starting with guitarist-songwriter Marvin Weathersby. ShawnFaye recorded several demo’s with the band which landed her a job singing on several songwriters demos.
As well as one of the front vocalists for a local legendary band “Brass Bullitt” with Band leader Al Bullitt. “This experience helped me flourish my ability to captivate my audience in preparation to share the stages with renowned artists such as, The Gap Band, Melba Moore, Freddie Jackson and Stephanie Mills.”
In 1991, ShawnFaye formed her own original and cover band along with musicians James Knowles on drums, John Teer (keyboardist), Leo Crowe (guitarists),Orlando Wright (bass) and Audley Reid (saxophonist). They were known as “Prodigy” the band that can deliver the fire. Often called upon for studio sessions as well as performing at local clubs and venues. “Prodigy” was often use by international recording artist, Keisha Brown. Ms. Brown, landed the opportunity for ShawnFaye to performed and sing background vocals for the legendary “Queen Of Soul,” Aretha Franklin. Including a UK toured with Keisha Brown for several months.
In 1994 ShawnFaye returned home and devoted her time to writing, and raising her two children.
“I needed time to learn how to embrace the various curves of life following the loss of my mother and the knowledge of lies and family secrets,” ShawnFaye says.
In 2003, that freedom allowed ShawnFaye to used her time well in writing songs including two musical stage plays. “Your Alternative Gentleman” and “The OptShop.”
ShawnFaye became part of, and nothing less then a stellar production, V.Holmes Presents “A Tribute to the Motown Greats.” A sold out debut at DuSable Museum of African American History in Chicago as she give tribute to the half of the most successful and loved duets of Motown, Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell and the original “dreamgirls,” The Marvelettes.
In 2006, ShawnFaye released and co-wrote with Danny Barrett “ The Leaves on the Trees” theme song. Written for the“Gift Of Sight,”Luxottica Group Foundation.
In 2014, ShawnFaye released her first single You Bring Out The Best Me with a new EP Album to follow in the late summer of 2015 Title, “These Walls.” ShawnFaye just doesn’t sing the songs, she relives the emotional lyrics that unfold a vivid story in the most powerful way.
September 2014, ShawnFaye traveled to Germany with V. Holmes Music Entertainment. There she recorded background vocals for keyboardist and composer, “Thomas Motter” of Heidelberg Germany; a single off his album Title, “The Night Shift.”
