Murray Logan was born in Prince George in 1988 and began playing guitar at the age of 8. He began performing and wrote his first song when he was 10 years old and since then has continually sought, in his own words, “to create an experience for people through my tunes.” Murray’s passion for writing and performing is a two-way street: “to share that experience with others is a feeling unrivaled by anything else,” he says. Murray turned the limitations of growing up in rural northern BC into opportunity, drawing inspiration from nature and any and all chances to perform. When he was 14 he put his guitar playing on hold to pursue drumming in the Prince George Pipe Band. After traveling to the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow, Scotland in 2004, Murray went back to his guitar and has faithfully and tirelessly pursued song writing and performing ever since.
To broaden his artistic horizons, immediately after high school Murray moved to Victoria, BC, where he has lived for the past six years. The new start helped Murray craft his own style which is grounded predominantly in solid pipe-band-inspired rhythm and the raw honesty of West Coast folk while also drawing from blues and country influences. His accessible, organic, and authentic lyrics give his songs a seasoned flavour that transcends his age and invite listeners to share in his experiences. New surroundings have meant new opportunities and Murray takes the stage several times a week around Victoria in an effort to reach out to as many people as possible. Every night he strives for that moment when he knows the audience relates to his music and his tunes become, as he puts it, “much more than just songs.”
Currently, Murray is enjoying positive feedback with regards to his debut LP, 'Play the Game' and has begun recording his second (first full length) album which is yet to be named.
